Classes start again at The SideSpace!
On Monday 7th September The Side by Side Theatre Company Stourbriedge will once more be rehearsing at
The SideSpace at St John's in Stourbridge after a 6 month break.
Observing full COVID Government Guidelines, we've worked hard to ensure that we're doing absolutely everything we can to minimise any risk to students and volunteers. Initially, the Monday, Tuesday and Thursday DRAMA classes will take place, with the DANCE class following once it's safe to hold it.
All involved have been sent the RISK ASSESSMENT and the PROTOCOL NOTES which are linked to
on the Side by Side website for anyone to download and view as a pdf.
The Gig Caritas fund-raising event was unfortunately postponed.
On March 21st, The SideSpace at St John's will be opening its doors for the first time.
Verdi's Requiem will be performed by Gig Caritas, with all proceeds going to Side by Side Theatre Company Stourbridge charity.
For this one-off concert, talented musicians will be travelling from across the UK and Europe,
and in a gesture of kindness synonymous with all Gig Caritas events, do not charge any performance fee.
Headline soloists include Louise Maguire, Rachel Colley, Edward Harrison and Jack Brookes.
This special charity concert has a limited number of seats.
To get your tickets, at just £12 each, you can buy them online at www.gigcaritas.org.uk/box-office,
or collect them in person from Harris & Son Butchers in Wollaston.
You can also buy on the door at The SideSpace on the evening of the concert.
Doors open from 6.45pm and the concert begins at 7.30pm.
Thank you Gig Caritas!
WE'VE MOVED IN ...
We're delighted that The Side by Side Theatre Company Stourbridge has now moved into The Side Space at St John’s (formerly St John’s Church).
The move comes 18 months after the theatre group for people with learning disabilities purchased
St John’s Church thanks to a generous donation, following many years of having no permanent home.
Since purchasing the building, the group has since raised many thousands of pounds in donations to fund roof repairs,
complete re-wiring, a new heating system, new lighting and a brand new kitchen and toilets.
A massive thank you to everyone who made this possible through financial donations, manual labour, or supplying professional services free of charge.
And a special thanks to Derek Lidington, who - without any payment, and sometimes in extreme circumstances - led and managed the project to its fruition. Derek's determination and expertise ensured that the multiple contractors, surveyors, architects and volunteers worked together (and on time!) to achieve this incredible milestone, for which Side by Side are extremely grateful!
The venue will initially be used just by the theatre group and other groups offering services to those with learning disabilities.
It will then also be offered to other members of the community for arts and theatre ventures later this year.
